Encapsulation chemicals contain detergents and surfactants with a polymer that are agitated around the carpet fibres, a micro-fibre pad simultaneously extracts the dirt. As the detergent dries, remaining soils are encapsulated by the polymer component, which dry to micro crystals and are easily released during routine vacuuming.
Water molecules usually bind with the detergents retarding drying times. The polymer in Encapsulating chemicals bind with the detergents, freeing the water to evaporate faster. This process also prevents re-soiling by encapsulating the sticky detergent residue that attracts soils.
The crystals are not usually visible to the naked eye, but there are several test for checking the chemicals such as pouring some into a saucer and leaving it overnight. The next day you should see a dried and cracking residue.
As this product is relatively new to South Africa, and price determination is an ongoing process and depends very much on the condition of the carpet and which pads are used and can be as low as 50 cents m2 excluding labour. Abroad, huge savings are realised through production rates. Bear in mind that this system is not a replacement for "Hot Water Extraction" but part of a maintenance routine. We recommend 3-5 cleans’ between HWE. This product is for professionals that are results driven.
The answer is yes! As a positive residue is left behind, the encapsulating process continues to stop dirt binding to fibres even after the carpet has dried. Test it for yourself by cleaning half a traffic lane with encapsulation, and the other half with HWE or another system.
